THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The GME Program Manager 1 provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Department of Medicine's Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship programs in Pulmonary/Critical Care. This position plays a key role in maintaining continuous compliance with all standards set forth by ACGME, the University of Tennessee Graduate Medical Education (UTGME) office, and related governing bodies. This position serves as a backup to the Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology GME Program Manager 1.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of related experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal six (6) years.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional administrative, organizational, and leadership ability. 
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. 

  1. Leads and oversees the daily operational management of all accredited fellowships under the Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship Program, ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality program support.
  2. Maintains expert-level knowledge of ACGME requirements and accreditation processes; oversees accreditation site visits and ensures readiness.
  3. Oversees rotation schedules, call schedules, clinic assignments, and conference coordination.
  4. Maintains fellow records, assists with scholarly activity tracking, and supports research initiatives.
  5. Screens ERAS applications using independent judgment to identify eligible candidates.
  6. Administers and maintains all evaluation systems in the residency management software.
  7. Processes verification requests, summative evaluations, and board eligibility documentation.
  8. Provides delegated support to the Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology GME Program Manager 1 and contributes to the fellowship's administrative infrastructure as needed, ensuring alignment with programmatic, institutional, and accreditation standards.
  9. Maintains residency management software modules and user functionality.
  10. Performs other related duties assigned.
