Advanced Education in Endodontics

Job Summary: The Program Director 2 oversees the operation of a program or a center. Is responsible for budget preparation and management as well as performance of the employees in the program or center. The School of Dentistry is seeking an experienced clinician-educator and academic leader to serve as Program Director for the graduate endodontics program. This role provides administrative and academic leadership, ensures CODA compliance, oversees curriculum development, resident recruitment, and progress monitoring, and includes teaching and supervision in clinical, didactic, and research settings. The ideal candidate is an innovative leader who mentors students and promotes excellence in education and research.Performs other duties as needed. The Program Director for the Advanced Education in Endodontics program provides leadership, administration, and academic oversight of the postgraduate endodontic education program. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring the program's compliance with the accreditation standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and alignment with the educational principles and professional guidelines of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE).

The Program Director has primary responsibility for the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the educational program, including curriculum, clinical training, research activities, and resident assessment. The Program Director ensures that the program maintains high standards of advanced clinical education, scholarly activity, ethical practice, and patient care.

Education and Experience: Doctorate Degree required. DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. Minimum four years of related experience required. Preferred qualifications include prior experience as a program director in advanced endodontic education and experience in intramural practice.  Completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education Program in Endodontics.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions if applicable; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensure(s) and Certification(s): License/certificate varies depending on the area. D.D.S./D.M.D. or foreign equivalent required, be eligible for licensure in the State of California, and have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in endodontics required. Board-certified by the American Board of Endodontics required.
