Job Summary

The Engineering Program Director makes high‑level decisions that influence the organization’s programs and activities. The role requires creativity, foresight, and mature judgment to plan, organize, and guide extensive programs of major consequence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a technical discipline for the organization.
  • Provide advisory or consulting work for broad program areas or an intensely specialized area with innovative or important aspects.
  • Utilize advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Lead project meetings and present findings.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with related parties.
  • Travel as required to headquarters, field offices, client sites, or project locations.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Uphold the organization’s standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic communication including email and text, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate critical and controversial issues with senior engineers and officers of other organizations.
  • Experience conducting presentations and participating in media interviews.
  • Represent the organization at important functions or conferences, including media interviews as required.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • 20+ years of prior experience.
  • In‑depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications, Certifications, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Member of a professional practice organization and recognized expert on national activities or spokesperson for the profession.
