Job Responsibilities Job Summary: The education, innovation, and support program coordinator I will provide leadership and professional services to accomplish the education, innovation, and support departmental objectives. This position works closely with 1890 regional directors and community partners to effectively execute state-wide college readiness initiatives and support the holistic student development initiatives of SC State 1890 Research and Extension. Minimum and Additional Requirements Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for developing, executing and managing college readiness programs.
Plans and oversees day-to-day program operations; evaluates outcomes, and ensures goals and objectives are met Supervise and provide direction to EIS student assistants Designs and implements training for professional, academic, student, and temporary staff Oversees the collection, analysis, and evaluation of student and program data to document progress toward established goals and objectives Develops partnerships/networks with high schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations Assist in the development of EIS budget and ensure that expenditures are processed appropriately Assist in the recruitment, retention, and management of the Agriculture Innovation Scholarship Program Plans holistic student development activities for Ag scholars, USDA scholars, student assistants, and research assistants Makes recommendations to the state program leader based upon this analysis. Ensures accurate and up-to-date data entry for all academic programs Serves on department, campus, and external committees, workgroups, and coordinating bodies Serves as consultant/expert/resource to K-14 institutions and community organizations regarding college access and college-going culture Required Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge managing and monitoring educational programs; knowledge of the history, philosophy and objectives of the 1890 Land-Grant System; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse populations; ability to recruit, train and manage staff as well as volunteers; expertise in understanding and following project plans, including the coordination of multiple resources and activities; Ability to exchange information with individuals and collaborate and colleagues within the college as well as presentation skills; Possess excellent organizational and decision-making skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and current social media trends. Education and Experience: The individual should possess a Master's in education, social sciences, family and consumer sciences, sociology, psychology or related area with at least five (5) years of satisfactory professional job-related experience to include youth development areas.
A master's degree is required. This position will directly supervise EIS student assistants. Work Environment: The typical work week is 8:30 am-5:00 pm in a traditional office setting.
In addition, there are after hour responsibilities on the weekdays and weekends which may include facilitating workshops, conducting campus tours, and managing EIS related events. There are some outdoor responsibilities when it comes to programming and helping work university events. Physical Requirements: This position requires light physical activity and movement.
Travel Requirements: Some evening and weekend work, as well as overnight in state and out of state travel is required. The individual will travel extensively throughout the state to facilitate workshops and provide support to regional staff and volunteers. Application Requirements/Special Instructions: This position is federally funded by the Farm Bill (Agriculture Improvement Act) Section 1444, Agricultural Extension Activities at 1890 Land-Grant Institutions / Section 1445, Agricultural Research Activities at 1890 Land Grant Institutions.
The individual will be housed in the administrative office located in Orangeburg, SC. The individual must have the ability to perform duties on own initiative while receiving minimal supervision; must be able to use good judgment in making decisions; exhibit a good working relationship with people, and be highly dependable in planning, implementing, and reporting activities; must be able to relate to youth and college student population and rural/urban citizens. A valid driver's license is required.
Additional Comments Additional Comments: This position is a fully on-site role with no remote or hybrid work options. The physical demands described here represent the functional actions required to successfully execute the essential duties. Stationary Position: Mustbe able to remain in a stationary position at an assigned office workstation for extended periods while reviewing financial records, building grant budgets, and verifying compliance documentation.
Data Processing & Technology: Constantlyoperates a computer, digital calculators, and specialized grant management database systems requiring precise motor coordination and data entry. Information Audit: Mustbe able to detect, analyze, and interpret detailed financial charts, complex federal regulations, spreadsheets, and dense legal text. Communication & Collaboration: Mustbe able to effectively exchange accurate financial and programmatic information face-to-face and digitally with principal investigators, funding agencies, and internal accounting teams.
Mobility & Facility Navigation: Mustbe able to move about inside the physical office environment daily to access shared files, office machinery, and attend internal research administration meetings. Document Transport: Occasionallymoves or positions batches of physical files, audits, or grant documentation folders weighing up to 15 pounds.
