New Graduate Program | Data Science Associate, Finance New Graduate Program (DSA) - 2027 Start

Office Location: Calgary

What You'll Do:

Canadian Tire's Data Science Associate Rotational Program will provide you with an opportunity to develop broad analytical expertise, work cross-functionally with internal and external teams and be a key member of our data analytics team within Finance Decision Support. This development program is designed to be a strong foundation for a successful analytics career within Finance and other analytics teams across CTC, helping us to continue to build an innovative, world-class Canadian Tire Retail team. The program consists of two progressive 12-month rotations in Decision Support teams that work with Merchandising and Finance in domains such as retail analytics, business intelligence and data engineering.

The associate will perform a variety of activities over the two rotations, which may include:

  • Business Decision Support: Provide subject-matter expertise, analytics, and insights to recommend actions that will enable optimal business decisions and/or resolve complex business problems. Identify opportunities to drive business growth and value.

  • Business Intelligence and Visualization: Design and develop complex reports, dashboards, visualizations and scorecards to support business needs and self-serve capabilities.

  • Data Management and Data Analytics: Analyze approaches, processes, and tools to support the business data strategy. Provide subject matter expertise and create a broad range of data-driven solutions by applying a variety of data science techniques to build out complex models.

  • Finance Transformation: Partner with Finance teams on ongoing transformation projects which involve modernizing data processes and reporting along with participating in the design of new financial models.

  • AI Development: Integrate AI into business processes and develop intelligent agents that automate workflows, surface insights, and communicate actionable recommendations, with appropriate testing, validation, and oversight to ensure trustworthy outcomes.

Who You'll Bring:

We are looking for students with an expected graduation of December 2026 or Spring 2027 who are:

  • You are working towards an undergraduate degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Quantitative Analysis, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Financial Analytics or a related field.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of these areas: BI development, data modelling, data engineering, business analytics, AI development, process automation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Possess technical knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL, BI tools (such as Power BI or Tableau), Python or other coding languages, and AI platforms/tools.

  • Nice-to-haves include familiarity with Spark, Azure Cloud Tools, Databricks, Microsoft's Power Platform, Copilot Studio.

  • Project, academic, or work experience in finance, retail, or business is considered an asset.

  • Creative and courageous, with the ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold, strategic moves in this rapidly evolving retail environment.

  • Action-oriented, and comfortable taking calculated risks to better serve our customers and business.

  • Critical thinkers with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our entire business.

  • Collaborative team players with superior communication and influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups.

Broadband Salary Range:$53,000 - $88,000.
Ourtypical hiring range is between $53,000 and $70,000. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
