Director of Advancement
Job Description
Reports to: Director of Schoolย
Classification: Full-time (year-round), Exempt
Description:
The Director of Advancement is responsible for the implementation of an ongoing comprehensive development program that will enhance the image of the Springfield Catholic School System, communicate the mission, objectives, and accomplishments of the school system, and obtain the financial and human support of the community.ย The Advancement Director must demonstrate enthusiasm for and understanding of the role of Catholic education.ย
Key Responsibilities:
Mission & Professional Conduct
- Supports and reflects the mission of Springfield Catholic Schools in all that we do.
- Upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Church.
- Adheres to all Springfield Catholic Schools and Diocesan policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student records, school matters, and family information.
Fund Development programs
- Coordinate all annual fundraising and community building activities, including but not limited to Back to School Bash, Emerald Evening, Shepherds' Fund, Irish Impact, Alumni, etc
- Coordinate capital campaigns and any large fundraising campaigns
- Support fundraising activities of Home and School, Athletics, and/or clubs
- Cultivate relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations
- Coordinate a planned giving program
- Assist with the submission of grant proposals.
Development Board Leadership
- Work directly with the Development Board executive committee, Development Board, and all subcommittees, including but not limited to the Alumni Association, Marketing committee, Catholic Business Network, Shepherds' Fund, etc.
- Coordinate and maintain a long-range plan for the Development Board
- Communicates Development updates and plans with the School Board
- Serve on standing or special committees as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Schools.
Public Relations and Marketingย
- Conduct recognition events that demonstrate appreciation of those who contribute to the success of the school system
- Publish school system magazine (Irish Connections)
- Manage all system-wide materials, recruitment videos, etc.
- Create a system-wide marketing plan
- Supports system-wide recruitment and retention efforts through strategic marketing, community engagement, and relationship-building initiatives
- Maintain accurate donor records
- Prepare press releases to the local media as directed
- Coordinate volunteer efforts for Development activities
- Conducts student recruitment activities/marketing and completes exit interviews with departing families
- Assist alumni with activities and maintain alumni records
- Maintain various social media outlets.
- Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary by the Director of Schools
Physical and Mental Demands
- Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
- Reaching, bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs.
