Job description

FUNCTION
demonstrated passion for working with children and young adults in a learning environment. Offering spiritual support and discipleship training to youth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Create and implement outreach opportunities for the youth and young adults to participate within the community. This includes local schools, partnerships and program in our service area.
  2. Assist with food preparation, serving and cleaning up as needed for Youth programming.
  3. Ensure all program areas are clean and maintained as necessary.
  4. Ensure timely communication with parents/guardians of those in Youth programming.
  5. Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings, with action items for follow-up.
  6. Discipleship Focus for Youth including the development of Lay Leaders and Volunteers, focused on spiritual formation and inclusion of spiritual principles in all programs.
    • Assist in planning Corps Council meetings, Jr. & Sr. Pastoral care meetings, and visitation
    • Assist in planning worship services
    • Take an active role in the leading of worship
  7. Promote and organize youth participation in events and retreats hosted by the Division and Territory including, but not limited to:
    • VBS
    • Sports-centric programming for Youth
    • Lead weekly chapel and organize Children's 5 during Sunday programs.
    • YPL, Corps Cadets, Troops
    • Youth Programming / TSA Programming.
    • Commissioning as it relates to Youth participation
    • Rallies/Enrollments/Youth Meetings
  8. Assist with the promotion and organization of The Salvation Army Roseville summer camp programs, including transportation to and from camp
  9. Assist Corps Officers with PTM compliance items including property and program concerns, paperwork, and training of those involved in corps ministry.
  10. Prepare promotional material (flyers, posters, videos, registrations, etc.) for all corps youth and young adult related events.
  11. Clerical duties include Youth calendar, weekly statistics and monthly reporting for Youth, and daily correspondence as needed.
  12. Other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. At least two years of experience working with youth in a Corps/church setting is required.
  3. Must be supportive of the mission of TSA, attend services, programs and other events as required.
  4. Collaborate as a team player, supportive of the attendees/supervising groups and operate within professional conduct standards expected.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  2. Must complete the Salvation Army vehicle course training
  3. Must be 21 years of age or older to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  4. Must provide consent to a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  5. Pass a Criminal Background Check and DOJ LiveScan

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  3. Ability to operate telephone.
  4. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  5. Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
  6. Ability to understand written information.
