Job description

Easter Seals Greater Houston, a leading provider of services to people of all ages, with any type of disability, is currently seeking a Camps and Recreation Program Assistant. This staff person will assist with Camps and Recreation Program activities in accordance with approved program policies and methods, consistent with the requirements of funding sources and professional best practices.

Job Title: Camps and Recreation Program Assistant

Position Type: Part-time (20 hours), including late morning/early afternoon hours Monday-Thursday; every Tuesday evening; and one Friday evening and one Saturday morning per month

Salary Range: $20-$25/hour

Location: Houston, Texas

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and run weekly Tuesday Night Family Nights, an hour each Tuesday night which includes an adapted play group, the availability of a toy lending library, and representatives from our financial coaching, mental health, and technology teams. Coordinate and run monthly Friday evening and Saturday morning activities.
  2. For above activities, lead the registration process, program implementation, data collection for grant reporting, and program evaluation.
  3. Other duties as assigned, including assisting with Adult and Veteran Programs that take place late morning/early afternoon hours Monday-Thursday; and assisting as needed with other programs within the Camps and Recreation Program and other agency activities.

Essential Qualifications & Leadership Qualities:

  • Experience creating and implementing cognitively and physically appropriate recreational activities for clients
  • Organized, adaptable, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must maintain current Driver's license and appropriate car insurance

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, neurological disorders, and development delays
  • Leadership role at a recreational program
