Professional Learning focuses on enhancing skills and knowledge through training and development, often for educators or corporate trainers. Teachers are professionals who deliver instruction in classrooms. While both roles are connected to education, Professional Learning is about the ongoing development of educators, whereas teachers are the practitioners implementing education directly with students.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Professional Learning Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Professional Learning Specialist, you need expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and a background in education or training, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), virtual training platforms, and assessment tools is typically required. Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills help engage adult learners and collaborate with stakeholders. These competencies ensure effective knowledge transfer, engagement, and measurable learning outcomes in professional development settings.

How do professionals in a Professional Learning role typically collaborate with educators and administrators to implement new training initiatives?

Professionals in a Professional Learning role often work closely with teachers, instructional coaches, and school administrators to design and deliver effective training programs. They typically assess the needs of staff, tailor professional development sessions to address those needs, and provide ongoing support through workshops, coaching, or feedback sessions. Collaboration is key, as these professionals facilitate open communication, gather input, and ensure that training aligns with school or district goals. This partnership-driven approach helps build trust and ensures that professional learning initiatives are both relevant and sustainable.

What is professional learning?

Professional learning refers to ongoing education and development activities that help individuals improve their skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in their careers. It often involves workshops, seminars, courses, or collaborative learning experiences designed to keep professionals up-to-date with the latest trends, research, and best practices in their field. Professional learning is essential for career growth, adaptability, and maintaining high standards of practice.

When educators grow, students win-and our work accelerates that growth every day. If that excites you, you're in the right place. We are in search of experienced educators and K-12 leaders with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective PLC meetings, communicate actionable strategies for growth with participants, and build positive rapport with partner schools and districts.
Why you'll love EdConnective:

  • Smart Tools, Less Busywork - We use modern tech to automate the tedious and amplify the strategic.
  • Work-Life Fit - Flexibility and advance notice for travel help protect your time and energy.
  • Serious About Growth - We invest in you. With a personalized development plan and ongoing learning support, you'll have room to level up fast.

What you'll love to do:
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with K-12 educators and leaders rooted in value, clarity, and results.
  • Facilitate highly effective and collaborative Professional Learning Community meetings among groups of teachers, instructional staff, and/or K-12 leaders.
  • Establish rapport and strong professional relationships with internal team members.
  • Develop open lines of communication with the EdConnective coaching team, sales team, and success team, allowing for questions and needs to be discussed proactively.
  • Maintain accurate and timely participant records, including meeting reports and usage data, throughout PLC implementation to ensure timely delivery of services and high-quality educator experiences.
  • Proactively identify, generate solutions for, and address customer concerns or roadblocks to ensure sustained satisfaction and account retention.
  • Design and deliver regular reporting and communications to customers to highlight progress, emerging trends, and program impact.
  • Create EdConnective advocates by turning happy customers into power users and promoters.
  • Communicate trends and insights gained from PLC facilitation to the internal EdConnective team to facilitate retention and expansion.

What you bring:
  • We are seeking experienced educators to facilitate PLCs of teachers, instructional coaches, and/or K-12 leaders. We welcome applicants who have prior experience in only one of these roles, but experience in multiple is a plus:

      • Previous instructional coaching experience is preferred.

  • 2+ years facilitating collaboration among educators in the form of Professional Learning Communities, team meetings, or similar.
  • A proven ability to connect with and support K-12 educators and leaders effectively by determining and communicating specific classroom and coaching strategies to support growth and improvement in student outcomes.
  • A growth mindset and hunger to improve-fast. Our best team members see every challenge as a learning opportunity.
  • Comfort in a fast-moving, ever-evolving environment. You're adaptable, resourceful, and thrive on change.
  • Openness to coaching and feedback. You don't just welcome coaching-you thrive on it. We model the same reflective mindset we champion for educators.
  • The ability to turn data into decisions - spot trends, surface insights, and show customers the impact that keeps them coming back.
  • Tech-savviness and fluency with tools like Salesforce and virtual collaboration platforms
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset; thrives in a remote work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Respect for the work of educators and a personal commitment to their success
