The Fearrington House Restaurant, a Relais & Chateaux property renowned for its refined Southern hospitality and exceptional cuisine, is seeking a talented and dedicated Baker to join our culinary team.

Position Overview:
The Baker is responsible for producing high-quality breads and pastries that reflect the standards of a world-class kitchen. This role requires strong technical skill, consistency, and a passion for traditional baking and laminated doughs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of artisan breads, including sourdoughs, yeasted breads, and specialty loaves

  • Execute laminated doughs for pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, danish, and seasonal viennoiserie

  • Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all baked goods

  • Follow established recipes while contributing creativity and seasonal ideas when appropriate

  • Manage fermentation, proofing, and baking schedules with precision

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment

  • Collaborate closely with the pastry and culinary teams to support restaurant and special event needs

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a professional baker, preferably in a fine dining or high volume environment

  • Strong knowledge of bread baking techniques and laminated dough production

  • Understanding of fermentation, dough handling, and temperature control

  • Ability to work early mornings and weekends as required

  • Attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to excellence

  • Culinary education preferred but not required with equivalent experience

    • Must also patient, detail-oriented, creative and organized.
    • Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
