Process Engineer - Injection Molding Manufacturing - Base Salary to 115k/year - Elkhart, IN

  • Our client, a custom plastics manufacturing company specializing in injection molding, tooling, and assembly, is seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize molding operations. This role is highly hands-on and focused on establishing, validating, and improving injection molding processes across new and existing production programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, develop, and optimize injection molding processes using scientific molding principles
  • Set, validate, and document process parameters for new mold qualifications and existing production
  • Perform mold sampling, trials, and process capability studies
  • Troubleshoot molding defects and processing issues related to materials, tooling, and equipment
  • Generate detailed process documentation, work instructions, and validation reports
  • Support new product launches, mold startups, and production ramp-up activities
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT), robotics, and automation systems
  • Work directly at injection molding presses to adjust and optimize processing conditions
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to processing and production teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Hands-on experience establishing and optimizing injection molding processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop process parameters from the ground up (including setup, validation, and documentation)
  • Strong technical knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling, and materials (thermoplastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS, nylon, etc.)
  • Experience troubleshooting molding defects (e.g., short shots, flash, sink, warpage, burn marks)
  • Experience supporting mold trials, startups, and new product launches
  • Exposure to mentoring, training, or leading technical team members
Compensation:
  • Base salary in the 85k - 115k/year range
