The Mold Technician must be able to perform the job of Packer / Handler and will oversee and direct the operation of the Molding Department to ensure parts are manufactured and packaged to Amcor Standards. Mold Technicians will be knowledgeable of all the injection molding machines, the process, raw materials, minor machine adjustments, quality standards, packaging standards, documentation and housekeeping. In performing these responsibilities, Mold Technicians will lead by example, work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.
  • This position is for night shift, 7p-7a on a rotating 2-2-3 12-hour schedule.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules
  • Must have a technical understanding of process and raw materials used
  • Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems
  • Start-up machines and monitor quality at start up
  • Make appropriate adjustments to machines to maintain efficient production levels and document appropriately
  • Respond to QA Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards
  • Oversee proper packaging procedures
  • Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands
  • Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.
  • Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions
  • Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers
  • Be able to do the packer/handler job to assist with relief breaks
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Ensure all required reports and other operational documentation are completed accurately, legibly, and on time in accordance with company procedures.
