Job description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the efficient operation of a specific line or work area in the production department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Learn and maintain all documentation required and barcode system for production reporting
  • Must prepare to pass the Job Certification Test for level “B” in 90 days from the date of last level change.
  • Maintain operation of multiple lines, including loading gaskets and packaging end product for shipment
  • Prepare packaging materials
  • Visually inspect product for quality control purposes
  • Measure and record pipe dimensions as directed
  • Make adjustments on bellers and printing equipment as needed
  • Move bundled pipe from work area, (scrap and good product)
  • Assist in production line start-up activities and changeovers.
  • Cut and band scrap as directed
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, product defects or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Work as a team with other personnel.
  • Operate a forklift truck safely and inspect fork trucks as instructed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma preferred, must have at least Ninety (90) days experience and demonstrate all requisite skill and knowledge of a General Worker with a passing grade to be certified in our JCP Program as a Level C Extrusion Technician

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups (employees or customers).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. Maintain their designated work spaces in a clean, safe and timely manner in compliance with the plants THM/Safety policy.
