Job description

Position Summary

Fairbanks Morse Engine is looking for a Production Engineer to join our team. This engineer will reduce cost through product non-conformance reviews, drawing updates, and engineering change implementation. This will be accomplished through timely review of daily non-conformances and interacting with production team members and engineers about process improvements for manufactured product. This role will also serve as the technical advisor to operations and the procurement team, performing as a subject matter expert on FME parts and drawings.

Improve velocity through collaboration with manufacturing engineering and purchasing teams for new and existing product lines and components.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and disposition Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) daily.
  • Creating and review nuclear inspections sheets (CCVs)
  • Support production as needed, including troubleshooting issues on the floor.
  • Prepare and update engineering drawings and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve issues and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Support purchasing through product and supplier review.
  • Review material substitutions to ensure the product function.
  • Create standard work with operator interaction to document FME best practice.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
  • Education/Experience- BS in engineering or Diesel Engineer degree; 2-4 years’ experience preferred.
  • Up to 10% – Travel mostly domestic day trips, some overnight trip as required could include: supplier visits, training, or customer site visits.
  • Requires CAD - SolidWorks preferred.
  • Preferred - Knowledge of combustion engine components or other related mechanical systems. Problem solving experience
  • Position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is data Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN). Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
  • Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case by case basis.
