Job description

Senior Product Owner, Platform & IT Operations

Join a leading Randstad client in Washington, D.C. as a Senior Product Owner, Platform & IT Operations, driving the critical transformation from a project to a "platform as a product" model within the Enterprise Platforms & Enablement (EPE) portfolio. You will be the strategic leader and primary voice of the customer for the Smooth Operators Team, focusing on essential capabilities like continuous IT operations, CMDB/IT Asset Management, network segmentation, and PCI compliance. This role requires an experienced agile champion to define, prioritize, and drive the roadmap for a major digital product, leveraging strong technical and business acumen to deliver reliability, resilience, and agility across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy & Vision: Develop, articulate, and communicate a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap that aligns with business goals and drives the adoption of the "platform as a product" model.
  • Backlog Management: Act as the primary Product Owner for the cross-functional team, owning, grooming, and managing a medium-complexity product backlog to ensure it reflects the highest business priorities and maximizes value delivery.
  • Prioritization & Value Delivery: Ruthlessly prioritize features, epics, and user stories based on business value, customer feedback, technical feasibility, and defined success metrics to guide the team's focus.
  • Requirements Definition: Collaborate closely with Product Management and stakeholders to translate complex business needs into well-defined, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and detailed functional requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across a wide array of stakeholders, including Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, and business leaders, ensuring alignment on the product direction.
  • Agile & SAFe Champion: Implement and actively champion the principles and ceremonies of Agile and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies within the team and across the value stream.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with other Product Owners and Product Managers to ensure cohesive, end-to-end feature delivery that enhances the capabilities of a successful passenger railroad.
  • Performance Analysis: Define, track, and analyze key success metrics and operational data to measure product value, identify areas for continuous improvement, and inform data-driven pivoting decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience as an Agile Product Owner in a large, complex organization.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling.
  • Certification: Required: Active SAFe 6.0 Product Owner/Product Manager Certification or a minimum of 3 years of experience in Scaled Agile product ownership or product management.
  • Technical Acumen: Demonstrated understanding of IT operations, IT Asset Management (CMDB), networking, and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI) is highly preferred.
