Job description

Job Summary

The Product Designer primary responsibility is developing new Product/ideas through customer / project scopes. Interpret and convert our customer’s product specifications, technical drawings into information that is usable to produce a prototype. You will work together with our engineering, quality and production teams to help lead new product through all aspects of its production life.

Job Responsibilities

· Develop new product concepts based on customer and project requirements

· Taking part in daily, specialized and multidisciplinary team meetings.

· Design, model and test prototypes. Use CAD to design concepts.

· Meeting with customers to go over new/existing design criteria and function. Travel may be required as per customer location.

· Accountable for producing/updating drawings, instructions and specifications to produce each product. (Documenting/photographing)

· Work in our operating system

· Working overtime or longer hours maybe required to meet customer/production deadlines.

Job Skills and Qualifications

· Experience in the canvas, awning, or marine manufacturing industry

· Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills

· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

· Associate’s degree preferred

· Related on-job experience - 3 years.

· Vocational school training

· CAD, Solid Works Design/Drawing software

· Digitizer/Plotter classes or related experience

· Team Player- respect and work with team members, respect their thoughts and knowledge of each instance. Be good natured and have a cooperative attitude.

· Initiative/persistent- have willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. Be persistent when faced with obstacles

· Active Listening- giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, do not interrupt speaker until appropriate.

· Comprehend/Learn- understanding implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making.

· Creative Thinking- developing, designing or creating applications, ideas, relationships, systems or product, including artistic contributions.

· Computers- using computers and computer systems to program, digitize, enter data and/or process information.

· Mechanical- understand how something works and have the ability to add to design for better function or adapt a new design.
