Job description

The CAD & Product Data Manager is responsible for leading Byrne's CAD, product data, and engineering support operations through process standardization, systems governance, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role oversees CAD workflows, PLM database administration, drawing governance, engineering specials processing, and product data integrity while fostering a professional, accountable, and improvement-focused culture.
This position plays a key role in Byrne's future-state operational transformation by elevating the department beyond traditional CAD support into a structured product data and systems function. The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with a process-oriented mindset who can balance team leadership, system governance, manufacturing integration, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Job Requirements:
  • Lead, coach, and develop the CAD and product data support team through clear communication, accountability, and performance management.
  • Administer and maintain PLM/product data systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, governance, and process compliance.
  • Oversee CAD workflows, drawing governance, document control, BOM integrity, and engineering change processes and identify opportunities for automation and workflow optimization
  • Coordinate and support engineering specials processing and custom product configuration activities.
  • Establish and maintain standardized workflows, documentation practices, work instructions, and operational procedures.
  • Drive cross-training initiatives to reduce single-person dependencies and improve organizational resiliency.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, and Operations to improve responsiveness, data accuracy, and process integration.
  • Define and monitor operational KPIs related to turnaround time, accuracy, documentation quality, process compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support ERP, PLM, manufacturing systems, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture while constructively addressing interpersonal and operational challenges.
  • Advocate for the team while appropriately managing workload priorities and organizational expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering support, operations, product data management, or related environments preferred.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Strong communication and conflict-management skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Process-oriented and systems-thinking mindset.
  • Experience with PLM, ERP, or product data management systems, Windchill preferred.
  • Ability to lead operational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience creating standards, workflows, and operational documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD workflows, BOM management, engineering change processes, and manufacturing integration.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; Power BI experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience preferred.
