Job purpose
The Pricing & Product Data Manager is responsible for leading the company's pricing strategy and product data management functions to drive profitable growth, operational efficiency, and data integrity.
This role combines strategic pricing leadership with product data governance, ensuring consistent, accurate, and scalable processes that support margin expansion, sales effectiveness, and business growth. The position plays a critical role in influencing profitability by establishing pricing discipline, improving customer and product profitability, and maintaining high-quality product information across systems.
Duties and responsibilities
Pricing Strategy & Governance
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies across customer segments, product categories, and markets
  • Establish margin targets, pricing structures, discount thresholds, and customer segmentation models
  • Define and enforce pricing policies, procedures, and approval workflows
  • Partner with Sales, Finance, and Procurement to align pricing with business objectives

Profitability & Margin Management
  • Analyze profitability at the customer, product, and transaction level
  • Monitor gross margin performance, pricing trends, and variance across teams and branches
  • Identify margin leakage, pricing inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Recommend actions to improve price realization and overall profitability

Pricing Operations Oversight
  • Oversee execution of price updates, including vendor cost changes and customer pricing adjustments
  • Maintain pricing structures and data integrity within ERP and related systems
  • Ensure timely and accurate implementation of pricing changes
  • Establish controls and audit processes to ensure pricing accuracy

Sales Support & Pricing Discipline
  • Provide pricing guidance and analytical support for bids, quotes, and large customer opportunities
  • Create tools, reporting, and insights to support sales decision-making
  • Train and influence sales teams on pricing strategy, margin expectations, and best practices
  • Monitor and manage pricing overrides and exceptions

Product Data Management & Governance
  • Own product data quality, accuracy, and consistency across systems
  • Establish and maintain product data standards, taxonomy, and governance processes
  • Oversee vendor data onboarding, normalization, and maintenance
  • Ensure product information supports pricing accuracy, reporting, and digital initiatives

Vendor Cost & Market Analysis
  • Monitor vendor cost changes and ensure timely adjustments to selling prices
  • Analyze vendor performance, rebate programs, and profitability
  • Track market trends, competitive pricing, and demand shifts
  • Recommend pricing adjustments based on market and cost dynamics

Technology & Data Enablement
  • Utilize ERP, AI/BI tools, and analytics platforms to support pricing and product data management
  • Drive process improvements and automation in pricing and data workflows
  • Ensure accuracy and usability of pricing and product data for reporting and decision-making

Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and develop pricing and product data team members
  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities across strategy, operations, and data governance
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Ensure alignment between pricing, product data, and broader business functions

Reporting & Executive Support
  • Provide leadership with regular reporting on margin performance, pricing effectiveness, and data quality
  • Deliver insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
  • Support strategic initiatives and business planning through data-driven analysis

Typical office hours Monday-Friday

Compensation:
$80-85K Annually, DOE, plus generous bonuses
Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field required
  • 5-10+ years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, data management, or related roles
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or a similar industry preferred
  • Proven experience managing pricing strategies and/or product data functions
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with AI/BI analytics tools preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems and pricing structures
