Procurement Supervisor


Position Summary We are seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead our purchasing operations, ensuring the cost-effective, timely, and compliant acquisition of materials to support production. This role manages supplier relationships, oversees inventory planning, ensures alignment with food safety standards, and develops a team of procurement professionals to drive continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management: Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements. Evaluate supplier performance, resolve discrepancies, and build strong partnerships to ensure the right quality, quantity, and delivery times.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Collaborate with Production and Warehouse teams to forecast material needs, optimize inventory levels, and identify cost-saving opportunities while managing purchasing budgets.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all procured materials and documentation comply with company specifications, HACCP, GMP, FDA, and FSSC 22000 standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, recruit, and develop purchasing staff. Establish departmental goals and monitor performance metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ERP optimizations (Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365), streamline purchasing operations, and implement strategic sourcing projects.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 3–5 years of procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Food or regulated manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Competencies: Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications: HACCP and PCQI certifications are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Primarily an office environment with regular visits to manufacturing and warehouse areas (exposure to moderate noise and forklift traffic). Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds.
