What is a process implementation manager?

Process Implementation Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the introduction and integration of new processes or improvements within an organization. They analyze existing workflows, identify areas for enhancement, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation. Their role often involves project management, change management, and ongoing monitoring to ensure that new processes deliver the expected results. By streamlining operations and fostering efficiency, they help organizations achieve their strategic goals.

What are some common challenges faced by process implementation managers when introducing new processes, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Process Implementation Managers often encounter resistance to change from team members who are accustomed to existing workflows. Overcoming this challenge requires clear communication about the benefits of the new processes, involving stakeholders early in the planning phase, and providing thorough training. Additionally, unexpected technical or operational obstacles may arise, so flexibility and problem-solving skills are crucial. Regular feedback sessions and monitoring progress help ensure that any issues are promptly addressed, leading to smoother adoption and long-term success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a process implementation manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Process Implementation Manager, you need expertise in process analysis, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or engineering. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, workflow automation tools, and project management software like MS Project or Asana is typically required. Strong communication, leadership, and change management skills help drive adoption and collaboration across teams. These skills ensure successful implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency and achieve organizational goals.

Job description

At Wells Fargo, we are looking for talented people who will put our customers at the center of everything we do. We are seeking candidates who embrace a workplace where everyone feels valued and inspired. Help us build a better Wells Fargo. It all begins with outstanding talent. It all begins with you.

Wells Fargo's Global Payments & Liquidity (GPL) team is an integrated, forward-looking product organization with end-to-end payments, data, liquidity and associated lending solutions that enable our clients to achieve their business objectives in an evolving digital world.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Head of Implementation Platform & Tools to lead the development, management, and oversight of the technology capabilities that support the end-to-end GPL product implementation process. This leader will be accountable for defining and delivering fulfillment strategy, tools roadmap, operating model, and execution discipline required to create a faster, simpler, more transparent, and more client-centric implementation experience.

The role will partner closely with the Sales and Implementation Leaders, GPL Product, Technology engineering teams, AI teams, Digital, Operations, Risk, and line-of-business partners to build a world-class GPL onboarding experience and toolset that meets current business needs while positioning GPL Implementation for the client needs of the future. In service of the GPL Implementation strategy, this leader will ensure technology investments, AI-enabled capabilities, workflow automation, reporting, and control routines are fully aligned to measurable business outcomes, including reduced cycle time, improved client transparency, stronger quality, and accelerated time to revenue.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the GPL Implementation platform and tools strategy: Define, prioritize, and execute the multi-year roadmap for systems, workflow tools, digital intake, fulfillment capabilities, reporting, dashboards, and implementation enablement solutions that support the full client implementation lifecycle.

  • Lead end-to-end technology enablement: Partner with Technology engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions, ensuring clear requirements, strong prioritization, effective delivery routines, and disciplined management of dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.

  • Drive AI-enabled transformation: Work closely with AI teams to identify, design, pilot, and scale AI use cases that reduce manual work, improve implementation quality, enhance colleague productivity, strengthen controls, and create a more intuitive experience for clients and internal users.

  • Modernize implementation workflows: Simplify and automate the end-to-end implementation process, including intake, product configuration, documentation, client communication, testing, readiness, activation, exception management, and post-implementation reporting.

  • Improve transparency and performance management: Build and maintain operational reporting, KPIs, dashboards, and analytics that provide leadership, product teams, sales partners, and implementation teams with real-time visibility into pipeline, status, bottlenecks, aging, cycle time, quality, productivity, and client outcomes.

  • Partner across Product, Digital, Service, and Operations: Ensure platform and tool development is tightly aligned to product roadmaps, digital channel strategies, servicing models, operational readiness, business controls, and client experience priorities.

  • Strengthen governance and controls: Embed risk, compliance, data quality, auditability, and control requirements into tools and workflows from the outset, ensuring implementation processes are consistent, well governed, and scalable across GPL products and client segments.

  • Manage delivery discipline and investment prioritization: Establish clear routines for roadmap prioritization, delivery tracking, issue escalation, benefits realization, and resource planning, ensuring investments are focused on the highest-impact client and business outcomes.

  • Create a world-class user experience: Champion intuitive user and client experiences that reduce friction, improve self-service and transparency, and support faster implementation execution across simple, core, complex, and specialty products.

  • Lead and develop talent: Build, manage, and inspire a high-performing team with the product, platform, analytics, business architecture, process improvement, and transformation skills required to deliver at scale.

Leadership Expectations:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Head of GPL Sales Support and Implementation and Implementation Product Leaders, bringing a strong point of view on how technology, data, AI, and workflow design can transform implementation outcomes.

  • Operate with an enterprise mindset, balancing GPL Implementation priorities with broader Product, Technology, Digital, Operations, Risk, and line-of-business objectives.

  • Translate complex business and technical issues into clear decisions, executive-ready recommendations, and practical execution plans.

  • Create strong partnership routines with engineering and AI teams, ensuring the business has appropriate visibility, influence, and accountability across delivery.

  • Champion a culture of simplification, client focus, innovation, disciplined execution, and measurable results.

Success Measures:

  • Reduction in end-to-end implementation cycle time.

  • Improved transparency of implementation status for clients, sales, product, and leadership stakeholders.

  • Increased automation and reduced manual processing across key implementation workflows.

  • Successful delivery and adoption of priority platform, workflow, reporting, and AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Improved quality, consistency, and control outcomes across implementation processes.

  • Stronger alignment between implementation tooling, product roadmaps, and technology investment priorities.

  • Improved user experience and productivity across implementation teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to partner with Technology engineering teams to shape roadmaps, define requirements, manage delivery, and resolve complex dependencies.

  • Experience identifying and scaling automation, AI, analytics, or digital workflow capabilities to improve business outcomes.
