What is a process implementation manager?

Process Implementation Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the introduction and integration of new processes or improvements within an organization. They analyze existing workflows, identify areas for enhancement, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation. Their role often involves project management, change management, and ongoing monitoring to ensure that new processes deliver the expected results. By streamlining operations and fostering efficiency, they help organizations achieve their strategic goals.

What are some common challenges faced by process implementation managers when introducing new processes, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Process Implementation Managers often encounter resistance to change from team members who are accustomed to existing workflows. Overcoming this challenge requires clear communication about the benefits of the new processes, involving stakeholders early in the planning phase, and providing thorough training. Additionally, unexpected technical or operational obstacles may arise, so flexibility and problem-solving skills are crucial. Regular feedback sessions and monitoring progress help ensure that any issues are promptly addressed, leading to smoother adoption and long-term success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a process implementation manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Process Implementation Manager, you need expertise in process analysis, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or engineering. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, workflow automation tools, and project management software like MS Project or Asana is typically required. Strong communication, leadership, and change management skills help drive adoption and collaboration across teams. These skills ensure successful implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency and achieve organizational goals.

  • Exposure to complex, end-to-end customer implementations with regional and global impact
  • Opportunities to work cross-functionally across operations, IT, product, commercial, and customer service teams
  • A professional environment that supports continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and capability development

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead customer implementations of medium to high complexity, ensuring a smooth transition from commercial award to stable operations
  • Own and drive the end-to-end implementation project plan across functions and geographies, including operations, IT, HR, and finance
  • Establish project milestones, readiness criteria, and go/no-go stage gates, providing clear visibility to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and issues from award through hypercare, escalating where required to protect delivery and profitability
  • Act as the central point of coordination for customers during onboarding, ensuring scope adherence and alignment with the solution sold
  • Partner with operational teams to ensure readiness, including SOPs/IOPs, staffing, training, IT/EDI integration, KPI reporting, and service quality
  • Contribute to commercial opportunities by supporting solution design and presenting the implementation approach during pre-sale and sales engagements
  • Capture lessons learned and share best practices to continuously improve implementation methodologies and execution standards

What We Are Looking For
  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement - someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day
  • Proven experience leading logistics or supply chain implementations, including project management in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong understanding of international supply chain operations, including ocean, air, and origin services such as trucking, customs, and milestone visibility

  • Solid project management capability, supported by certification (PMP, ACP-PMI, or equivalent) or equivalent education and experience
  • High proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a structured and detail-oriented working style
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage timelines and complexity under pressure
