Position Overview

The Industrial Process Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving end-to-end production workflows within Drug Craftersโ€™ compounding operations. This role focuses on process flow, capacity planning, equipment utilization, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across sterile and non-sterile environments.


This position is ideal for a process-oriented engineer with experience in compounding pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or regulated cleanroom environments, who enjoys translating complexity into repeatable, efficient systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and optimize manufacturing and compounding workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and throughput
  • Develop process maps, capacity models, and standard work for sterile and non-sterile operations
  • Partner with pharmacy, quality, and operations teams to ensure processes comply with USP 795, 797, 800, and 825 requirements
  • Identify bottlenecks, failure modes, and operational risk areas; implement data-driven improvements
  • Support cleanroom process flow, material movement, and segregation strategies
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, quality improvement, and cycle-time optimization
  • Support equipment selection and layout planning from a process-flow and scalability perspective
  • Assist with process change management, documentation, and validation support
  • Provide engineering input for expansion, new product introductions, and increased production volume
Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a compounding pharmacy, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or cleanroom-regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience optimizing production or manufacturing processes in regulated settings
  • Working knowledge of USP compounding standards and quality system expectations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into operational improvements
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a 503A or 503B compounding pharmacy
  • Familiarity with sterile compounding process flows and environmental controls
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification
  • Experience supporting scale-up, facility expansion, or capacity growth initiatives
  • Exposure to GMP principles and pharmaceutical quality systems
