Job Description:

The Missile Solutions Business Segment of L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Manager, Materials & Process Engineering to join our growing Huntsville, AL team.  The Manager will lead and oversee assignments in a dynamic environment, supporting both development and production programs focused on national defense.  This position will report to the Manager, Materials & Process Engineering in Huntsville, AL.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads, directs and reviews the work of experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Responsible for performance management of team, including quarterly and yearly assessments; hiring, promoting and compensation planning for team members.
  • Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to policies, practices or approaches.
  • Establish short-term operational plans with measurable contribution to the Materials & Process Engineering organization.
  • Support proposal development to include estimation, resource allocations and approval authority of estimates.
  • Make significant improvements in administrative processes within the Materials & Process Engineering organization including employee onboarding and standard work.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Travel: 10% of time on a yearly basis may be required to support work at suppliers, customers and other enterprise locations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree and minimum 9 years prior Materials experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior Materials experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Materials experience.
  • 5 years working as a Materials & Process Engineer.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Materials, Materials Science, Chemical, Polymers or Mechanical with an emphasis in materials is preferred.
  • 5 years' management within the Materials & Process Engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Knowledge of non-metallic materials used in solid rocket motor manufacturing.
  • Familiar with MIL-STD-11991 or other DOD/Agency Parts, Materials and Processes requirements.
  • Strong communication, technical presentation, teamwork, and Microsoft Office skills are required.
