SUMMARY

Seeking a Process Engineer in Decatur, AL to provide technical leadership and process optimization support within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for improving process performance, reducing operating costs, enhancing safety and environmental compliance, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide daily technical support and monitoring of assigned process units to optimize production, quality, safety, and cost performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, reduce operating costs, enhance product quality, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate process tests to support operating improvements and capacity enhancements.
  • Investigate production, safety, environmental, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for the maintenance, reliability, and operation of existing process equipment.
  • Design and implement process improvements, equipment modifications, and operational enhancements.
  • Develop engineering studies, economic evaluations, and capital project recommendations.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and management teams to achieve production and business objectives.
  • Support annual budgeting, operating reviews, and economic performance evaluations.
  • Lead or support engineering projects, including planning, coordination, execution, and progress reporting.
  • Specify equipment, control systems, and process technologies to improve process performance and reliability.
  • Develop procedures and provide training for new equipment and process changes.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on equipment installations and plant improvements.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and process engineering advancements.
  • Support environmental initiatives and assist with minimizing emissions and process releases.

    REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of Process Engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, or petroleum processing environment.
  • Distillation process experience is highly preferred; other chemical process engineering backgrounds will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization, troubleshooting, process safety, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting PSM, RMP, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and management teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Experience evaluating process economics and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and support plant operations as needed.
  • Experience working across diverse teams and cultures is preferred.
