Job description

REPORT TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR PURPOSE Responsible for providing engineering and technical support for tooling and auxiliary processes, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Drives operational efficiencies, standardization, and scrap reduction across production divisions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop, optimize, and standardize molding and auxiliary manufacturing processes to improve quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness across all production divisions. Provide technical leadership and support for new tooling and process trials, including on-site assistance during validation, launch, and implementation activities. Introduce new parts and processes into production; collaborate with Process Technicians, production personnel, and engineering teams to successfully transition pilot programs into production operations. Troubleshoot molding processes and related manufacturing systems; develop, document, and revise process parameters and techniques as necessary; and deploy to divisions to support quality, productivity, scrap reduction, cost, and process-standardization objectives. Work with production control to coordinate sample schedules, project priorities, and processing requirements. Maintain engineering process, product, and project documentation; prepare and distribute technical reports and recommendations as required. Work with customers, quality, production, and engineering personnel to ensure consistent interpretation and application of methods, standards, and policies; resolve material, insert, mold, processing, and related manufacturing issues. Maintain visibility into short- and long-term processing tasks, initiatives, and projects by working with project planning and adding status updates in the project tracker for visibility to support proactive planning and effective resource utilization. Deploy process-related improvements, best practices, and technical initiatives throughout production divisions as required. Train and mentor maintenance technicians, process technicians, and production personnel on molding processes, auxiliary equipment, processing techniques, troubleshooting methods, and standard operating procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, process consistency, operational efficiency, and standardization. Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations; ensure work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly condition and comply with all safety requirements. ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Engineering preferred Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred Strong mechanical aptitude. Expert knowledge of Compression, Transfer, and injection molding processes. Expert knowledge of plastic and rubber material processing properties. Expert knowledge of plastic and rubber auxiliary production processes, including insert molding, overmolding substrates, and working knowledge of adhesives. Solid understanding of mold design principles and tooling fundamentals. Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex manufacturing and processing issues. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent training, coaching, and knowledge-transfer skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams. Proficient in process documentation, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. Demonstrated ability to drive process standardization, scrap reduction, and operational efficiency initiatives. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to position or move, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
