As a vital part of the Mercy Street Development team, Mercy Street is seeking an experienced Development Associate to join and make an immediate impact. The Development Associate role is responsible for planning, executing, and growing Mercy Street's annual, seasonal, and monthly giving programs, and provide key administrative support to the development team. The role is ideal for a savvy, experienced, detail-oriented individual that is committed to excellence in donor relations. The Development Associate role responsibilities may also include but is not limited to cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of donors, key event management, written donor communications, donor database management, conducting research and deriving insights from input data to provide suggestions and/or implement best practices for the ministry to reach its goals, and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree required; 4-5 years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success in donor engagement, annual giving, or community fundraising as well as experience with events and gift processing.
  • Donor database entry and management experience, Bloomerang preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workplace, and calendar management.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to work well within a team, cross functionally, and with internal and external clients over a broad range of demographics.
  • Relationship driven, donor centric approach to gift giving a must.
  • A high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to work positively and remain flexible under pressure or as priorities change.
  • Strong understanding of annual giving and donor stewardship best practices.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; written & verbal.
  • Ability to affirm and consistently demonstrate a commitment to our cause, statement of faith, and a passionate connection to our mission and vision.

2. DONOR COMMUNICATIONS, EVENTS & STEWARDSHIP

  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors to deepen engagement and encourage continued or increased support.
  • Play a key role in the planning and execution of the Annual Luncheon, North Texas Giving Day, End-of-Year Campaign, and other fundraising events throughout the year to ensure excellent donor stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the team and work independently to manage and cultivate relationships for sponsorships, planned giving and individual gifts within portfolio.
  • Maintain compliance with ministry policies, standards, and donor specifications.
  • Work in collaboration with marketing to develop compelling donor appeal materials including newsletters, direct mail appeal letters, annual reports, event communications and other solicitation materials to ensure communications consistency.
  • Support the growth and sustainability of the ministry through scalable giving programs that build donor engagement and consistent revenue streams.

3. DONOR DATABASE MANAGEMENT, GIFT PROCESSING, AND OTHER FUNDRAISING SYSTEMS

  • Update and maintain donor database and related reporting, online giving platforms, and development related policies and procedures in accordance with ministry standards and best practices.
  • Accurate and timely execution of gift acknowledgements. Ensure that donors and supporters are appropriately acknowledged throughout the year and at special events.
  • Coordinate acknowledgements, reporting, annual tax receipts and stewardship communications in conjunction with brand standards and marketing related to giving programs and campaigns.
  • Document and update status of all grants in the donor management system.
  • Document and monitor donor pledges and notify development team members of status regularly to ensure payment pledges are received.
  • Record checks, EFTs, online and in-kind donations daily in the donor database.
  • Reconcile all donations, pledges, and awards with accounting as needed.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Serve on appropriate committees; attend staff meetings, and other staff functions.
  • Strengthen teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry.
  • Fulfill necessary tasks, projects or roles as assigned.
