Job description

If you want the expanded exposure that comes with a closely held business where you can make a real impact, taking on new challenges and overseeing multiple teams, then this Corporate Controller opportunity could be your perfect fit.

Work both hands-on in the accounting details and as the manager of the accounting team. Apply your experience to support new business growth initiatives, reporting directly to the CFO.

Corporate Controller โ€“ Your Job Duties

You will lead, develop, and mentor the corporate accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, and customer service teams (total of approximately 9 team members including two direct reports in the Assistant Controller and Credit Manager).

  • Oversee and manage all corporate accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet account reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP with a focus on accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Implement process efficiencies across financial reporting, payments, and credit / collections functions
  • Enhance, implement, and maintain effective internal controls with a focus on best practices and process improvements
  • Manage financial audits and serve as a key contact for external auditors
  • Manage tax compliance and filing requirements in coordination with tax advisors
  • Support the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support contract reviews, insurance matters and other projects as needed

Corporate Controller โ€“ You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit):

  • Industry experience in consumer goods, wholesale distribution and/or retail
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles
  • Experience leading and developing teams and implementing process improvements
  • Experience utilizing an accounting ERP system
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, vLookups, complex multi-tab spreadsheets)

You might have:

  • Prior experience working in public accounting or a CPA designation
  • Prior experience working in an accounting role in the apparel industry
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting or FP&A
