We're looking for a hands-on Plant Controller who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, partnering with operations, and using financial insight to improve production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and profitability.
The Plant Controller will lead all accounting and financial activities for the manufacturing operation while overseeing cost accounting, inventory control, purchasing, and financial reporting. This position serves as a strategic business partner to Operations and Supply Chain, ensuring sound financial decisions support growth and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all plant accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, audits, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Oversee manufacturing and cost accounting, including standard costing, product costing, variance analysis, margin analysis, and pricing support.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to optimize purchasing, procurement, supplier performance, inventory investment, and working capital.
- Manage inventory accounting, valuation, cycle counts, physical inventories, and initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and turnover.
- Serve as the finance lead for NetSuite Manufacturing, driving ERP optimization, reporting automation, data integrity, and continuous process improvement.
- Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and actionable insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, standardized financial processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting and inventory teams while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience as a Plant Controller, Manufacturing Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite Manufacturing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively on the manufacturing floor and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Experience with RF-SMART, Power BI, SQL, Power Query, or other reporting tools.
- Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- ERP implementation or system optimization experience.
- Experience in automotive, truck accessories, metal fabrication, or other discrete manufacturing environments.
