Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

Summary/Objective:    The Plating Process Engineer is responsible for continuous improvement of the plating process on quality, on time delivery and cost. The Plating Process Engineer is part of the Plating Team for the development, testing and implementation of new materials and technology. The Plating Process Engineer is responsible for test plan development, administration of process recipes, industrial engineering functions, and project management.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities: 
  • Support global Plating Operations with a high level of integrity with the evaluation, development and implementation of new processes, materials and technologies.  These continuous improvement efforts will be directed towards safety, quality, service, and cost.
  • Lead cross-functional teams for process control and improvement projects, supported by the use of Six Sigma Tools as DOE, hypothesis testing, SPC, etc.
  • Keep process documentation updated and meeting all requirements for manufacturing, safety and environmental standards.
  • Work with the Quality and Operations groups for continuous quality improvement and scrap reduction projects. Lead quality improvement projects to identify and eliminate recurring quality problems.
  • Work with the Plating Laboratory Supervisor to lead and support projects for chemical process control and improvement, including SPC on key chemical process variables.
  • Work with Lead R&D Chemist to implement and troubleshoot new plating chemistry innovations.
  • Work with New Ventures Engineering to implement new processes and technologies.
  • Provide technical support on precious metal usage and reduction projects to meet the company goals.
  • Provide guidance to New Product Engineering for plating capabilities and implement Win/Win solutions to problems in product development.
  • Manage recipes for new product setup and existing product optimization.
  • The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.
  • Additional requirements for this position may be needed based on the facility in which this is located. 
Required Education/Experience: 
 
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a Technical or Science degree or minimum 2 Years' Experience in Process, Chemical, Manufacturing or an equivalent engineering position.
  • Essential functions of the job include the ability to stand, lift, and walk on a continual basis.
  • Must be willing to work in a chemical environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and learn quickly.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
 
Preferred Education/Experience: 
  • Experience in an electroplating environment.
  • Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Statistical Process Control, and Six Sigma.
