Job Summary:
Core One is dedicated to providing analytical and operational solutions to complex national security challenges. The Technical Writer role involves developing and managing high-quality technical documentation to ensure compliance with federal standards while collaborating with various technical teams.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain compliance artifacts: System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Plan of Action & Milestones
• Ensure alignment with NIST SP 800-53 / RMF (800-37), FedRAMP Moderate/High baselines, and ICD 503
• Support ATO lifecycle documentation and audit readiness
• Produce high-quality developer-facing materials: API references, Integration guides, and SDK documentation
• Collaborate with Back-End Developers to ensure accurate and up-to-date API contracts
• Document Data dictionaries and metadata, Database schemas and relationships, and Data governance policies
• Work with Database Engineers to ensure data lineage, classification, and handling requirements are clearly documented
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, change Enablement documentation and incident response runbooks
• Align documentation with ITIL processes
• Establish and enforce documentation standards and templates, version control and document lifecycle management and implement structured authoring and reuse strategies
• Serve as the central documentation liaison across Engineering teams, Security and compliance teams and Product and program leadership
• Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies to capture evolving requirements
• Utilize documentation tools and platforms: Confluence, SharePoint, Git-based documentation (Markdown) and API tools (Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Support automation of documentation workflows within CI/CD pipelines
• Prepare and manage documentation for FedRAMP audits and 3PAO assessments and Internal compliance reviews
• Ensure documentations are complete, accurate, and traceable and aligned with system configurations and controls
• Mentor junior writers or contributors, promote a culture of documentation as a critical engineering discipline
• Continuously improve documentation quality and usability
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Technical Writing, English, IT or related field and 8+ years of technical writing experience in IT or cybersecurity environments
• OR Masters and 6+ years of relevant experience OR PhD and 3+ years relevant experience
• Proven ability to document Complex systems and architectures and APIs and data models
• Strong understanding of Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
• Tools & Technologies: Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, DITA, Swagger / OpenAPI, Git, Visio, Lucidchart, Jira, Azure DevOps
Preferred:
• Experience with FedRAMP, NIST RMF, ICD 503
• Familiarity with DevSecOps environments
• Experience documenting cloud-native architectures
• Knowledge of structured authoring frameworks (DITA)
• Experience with diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart)
