The Opportunity:
The CIS program supports our intelligence customer deliver IT services to conduct its globally distributed operations. We are driving an exciting technological transformation of customer IT services by leading the design, development, implementation, and operation of cutting-edge solutions. This includes continuous service improvement through the modernization of IT system infrastructure.
CACI is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Technical Writer to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, the Defense Intelligence Agency.
The position is contingent upon award of the DIA SITE III CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) contract.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform as part of a collaborative writing team to document complex digital infrastructure systems, concepts and actions by translating highly technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation
  • Document Development & Editing
    • Drafts, reviews, and maintains technical documents, including Concepts of operations, software/systems engineering guides, system operations manuals, testing procedures, and user knowledge articles
    • Creates clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), implementation guides, customer updates, and end-user documentation
    • Translates technical drawings, pamphlets, and engineering consultations into formatted technical publications
    • Leverages AI tools and prompt engineering to accelerate initial drafts, generate multiple formatting options, and enhance document accuracy
  • Knowledge Management
    • Maintains and updates the web-based Knowledge Management portal and document repository
    • Coordinates the lifecycle storage of system training plans, Alpha test reports, pre-deployment configuration cut sheets, and logical system diagrams.
  • Cross-Functional Support
    • Collaborates with engineering, operations, and IT Service Management (ITSM) teams to capture functional requirements or document activities
    • Explains complex scientific and technical ideas in simple, concise language

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start
  • HS diploma/GED and 8+ years of experience, AA and 6+ years of experience, BS/BA and 4+ years of experience, MS/MA and 2+ years of experience, or PhD
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and grammar skills
  • Proven ability to distill complex, technical information into clear, concise, and accurate text under deadline pressure
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a larger, multi-writer team
  • Experience utilizing standard office suites and document publishing tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles
  • Willingness to learn new skills and new adapt to new environments

Desired:
  • DOD 8140 Certification applicable to role (example Security+)
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community (IC) environments, IC ITE services, and key frameworks such as the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Prior experience working alongside IT service delivery teams
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
