The Computer Operator III: * Recommends improved service routines, production techniques and modifications or additions to equipment. * Observes and controls the course of jobs being run on the computer system. * Takes immediate action to correct any machine malfunction. * Assists in the orientation of operators in a lower classification. * Maintains an understanding of production practices and procedures and assists in the resolution of production problems and issues. * Prepares and presents quantitative data regarding workflow processes and issues to management and supervisors. * Maintains production efficiency by using sound judgments when problem solving, and through effective oral communication. * Fulfills tasks of operators in a lower classification as needs arise. * Acts in place of program manager when needs require. * Maintains related logs and records. * Performs clerical duties as assigned. * Performs related work as assigned. Skills & Behaviors: * Thorough knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and MS Office software. * Thorough knowledge of clerical and reporting skills. * Excellent attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills. * Ability to perform accurately, assigned routine operations on various data processing equipment. * Ability to work in high-pressure situations. * Ability to listen effectively and express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely. * Ability to work well both alone and in highly structured team environment. * Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities with good interpersonal skills. * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more. Education, Training, & Experience: * HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5+ years of personal computer experience. (required) * Four years of experience in a business mailroom, print operations, and/or mail sorting experience. (required) * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or successful completion of related programs in data processing and computer operations. (preferred) * Experience with using loading and maneuvering equipment safely and effectively. (preferred) Qualifications: * Candidates who hold an active public trust government clearance are strongly encouraged to apply. * Candidates who are willing to undergo a background investigation to receive a government clearance will be strongly considered. * Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm daily. (Hours may vary based on workload and candidates must be flexible) * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more. * Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
