Envestnet’s accounting team is a critical engine behind the firm’s financial strength and transparency, delivering accurate, GAAP‑compliant reporting and supporting complex, multi‑entity operations in a dynamic environment. The team leads end‑to‑end close and reporting processes, partners closely with FP&A, treasury, and senior leadership, and supports key initiatives including audits, transformation efforts, and strategic growth activities such as M&A. With a strong focus on automation, scalability, and continuous improvement, they build efficient, future‑ready financial processes that enable better business decisions. How You’ll Contribute   

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Principal Director, Finance Shared Services to manage the firm’s accounting team with a direct reporting line to the Chief Accounting Officer/Global Controller. This role will oversee the monthly close process, support financial reporting and management reporting, audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to process improvement in a fast-paced environment.

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities. Drive optimization of close processes through automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in preparation and review of GAAP-compliant financial statements, including consolidation and intercompany eliminations, as well as management and investor reporting.
  • Support external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and resolution of audit findings.
  • Build and enhance operational policies, procedures and internal control frameworks, ensuring SOX compliance.
  • Manage accounting optimization initiatives aimed at simplifying processes, improving accuracy, and enhancing scalability across the accounting function.
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives, including ERP upgrades and reporting automation.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, treasury and senior leadership on financial analysis, reporting, and strategic initiatives, including M&A.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering the culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need to Bring  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within financial services or tech industries.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and audit processes. 
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex close processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves  

  • Oracle experience preferred.

Our Investment in You 

This role offers a base salary range of $184,200 to $230,300. The range listed represents a good-faith estimate of base salary compensation for this position and does not include incentive compensation, equity or benefits. Individual pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.  This role is eligible for an additional incentive component as part of the total rewards package.
