About the job Primavera P6
Primavera P6 Specialist develops, maintains, and analyzes project schedules that support complex government and commercial engineering and construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, field personnel, and stakeholders to create accurate schedules, monitor project performance, and provide schedule analysis that supports successful project execution. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Primavera P6, Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, and project controls in construction or industrial environments. This role is offered on a contract basis, with strong potential for long-term or permanent placement based on performance and client need.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling techniques.
  • Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), activity relationships, milestones, and project logic.
  • Load labor, equipment, material, and cost data into project schedules to support forecasting and performance tracking.
  • Update project schedules with actual progress, identify schedule variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform schedule impact assessments and what-if analyses to evaluate project risks and recovery options.
  • Establish and maintain baseline schedules while documenting changes resulting from scope modifications or contract revisions.
  • Generate reports, S-curves, resource histograms, earned value data, and schedule performance metrics for project leadership and clients.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, construction teams, and clients to ensure schedules accurately reflect project status.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and provide scheduling expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure scheduling practices comply with company and client requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience using Primavera P6 in engineering, construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles and project controls.
  • Experience developing, updating, and managing complex project schedules from planning through project completion.
  • Ability to analyze schedule performance, identify delays, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present schedule information to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative project team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting government, defense, shipyard, or commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and project controls.
  • Experience with schedule risk analysis and resource forecasting.
  • Knowledge of contract scheduling requirements and change management processes.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering or construction environments.

Additional Information
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with regular interaction with engineering, project management, and construction teams. Occasional visits to active project sites, industrial facilities, or shipyards may be required to support project planning and schedule verification. Standard business hours are expected; however, additional hours may be required to meet project deadlines. Reliable transportation is required for onsite meetings and project support as needed.
