We are looking for a detail-oriented and skilled Prepress Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving and preparing client files, ensuring accuracy, and generating production-ready materials. This position involves tasks like pre-flighting artwork, creating PDF and hard copy proofs, and making flexo and jet plates. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to advance to a Lead Prepress Specialist role, overseeing the prepress workflow and team operations.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or Equivalent

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Pre-flight/ Prepress experience

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and align operations and sales processes to achieve business results

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, resourcefully with minimal oversight

  • Experience of at least 1 year

  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite and Quark

  • Mac Computer Programs Used:

  • Quark

  • Adobe Creative Suites

Skill Requirements Ability to work at an advanced level on a Mac in Adobe Creative Suites and Quark. Ability to follow an order all the way through completion beginning from art arrival to layout to manufactured end product.Duties/Responsibilities Typesetting, composition, trapping, stepping, image placement and color modification

  • Must be self motivated, detail oriented, posses time awareness and be able to work with limited direction under a dept manager

  • Knowledge of Esko's Automation Engine and Digital Flexo Suite helpful

  • Perform routine maintenance on all equipment.

  • Making plates and setting up files

  • Pre-flighting client supplied files and make necessary changes to ready for print.

  • Proofread all generated artwork including customer artwork and final approved files

  • Output files to imagesetters or cdi, depending on plate requirements

  • Maintain knowledge of all output devices including proofing equipment, cdi and processors

  • Ensure that files are properly set up and consistent with what the customer desires.

  • Prep the file for the printing process (file manipulation, font sourcing/substitution, file identification, placement, etc.)

  • Process PDF, and graphics files that come in e-mail, delivery, walk in, or other method.

  • Ensure required resources are available to complete job (media, fonts, graphics, etc.).

  • Respond appropriately to fault, error, and alert messages.

  • Evaluate output and adjust to obtain a desired level of image quality.

  • Troubleshoot problems that occur during job submission or the printing process.

  • Address problematic orders and customer complaints.

  • Process, comprehend, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

  • Gather, organize, and wrap completed work for delivery to customer or next department.

  • Report mechanical failure to the Production Manager.

  • Conscientious and consistent effort to quickly and accurately complete each task and/or job is the company's productivity standard.

  • Perform any other tasks, duties, or functions directed by the Production.
