Job description

About the role: The Journeyman Millwright is a fully qualified tradesperson responsible for performing skilled mechanical work on the teardown, inspection, repair, and reassembly of hydroelectric generating units and auxiliary equipment. Working under the direction of the Lead Millwright, the Journeyman executes complex tasks with a high degree of independence, contributes to crew safety, and provides on-the-job guidance to the Helper.
This is position will be based out of one of Eagle Creek's facilities located in the mid-atlantic, with a heavy travel expectation (~80%) as needed across our portfolio of hydropower assets.

What you'll do:
  • Perform teardown and reassembly of turbine runners, wicket gates, guide bearings, thrust bearings, packing glands, shaft seals, and generator components to OEM and engineering tolerances.
  • Conduct precision measurements and alignments using micrometers, dial indicators, and laser alignment equipment; record and report all findings in overhaul logs.
  • Rig, sling, and assist in directing crane lifts of heavy turbine and generator components in accordance with approved lift plans.
  • Apply and comply with all LOTO, confined space entry, and site safety procedures; actively participate in pre-job briefs.
  • Assist the Lead Millwright with work planning, parts staging, and tool preparation for upcoming tasks.
  • Guide and instruct the Helper on correct techniques, safe work practices, and trade knowledge.
  • Identify wear, damage, or out-of-tolerance conditions during inspection and report findings to the Lead Millwright promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work site; properly care for and store tools and equipment after each shift.
  • Complete work order documentation, inspection forms, and measurement records accurately and on time.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and perform additional duties as directed by the Lead Millwright.
  • Be proficient in use of company email and work order management systems.
What you'll need:
  • Minimum 4-6 years of millwright experience; Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with rotating heavy equipment; hydroelectric or power generation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring instruments and alignment equipment.
  • Current LOTO and confined space entry training; rigging certification preferred.
  • An unwavering commitment to safety for yourself, your crew, and the public.
  • Ability to follow and carry out instructions from the Lead Millwright with minimal supervision on standard tasks.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in millwright or mechanical trades preferred.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams) for documentation and communication.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform manual tasks including but not limited to:
  • The operation of hand and power tools and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Being able to bend and maneuver in tight, cramped quarters including turbine pits and generator enclosures.
  • Ability to work in hot, noisy, wet, and confined environments.
  • Comfortability working at heights and around water
  • .Ability to work with and wear respiratory protection.
  • Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, climb, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
  • Grip and manually manipulate hand tools, torque equipment, and machine parts, often in repetitive motion.
  • Read and identify labels, gauges, measurement instruments, and indicators encountered in performing job duties.
  • Possess clear and effective verbal communication in all circumstances, including emergency situations.
