Xcel Energy is looking for a talented, experienced Journeyman Mechanic Specialist to join the Xcel Energy Mechanical Maintenance team in Boulder, Colorado!
The starting pay rate for this Bargaining Unit position is $59.54 hourly.
Selection criteria will also include an interview, pre-employment written and hands-on assessment that will take place at an Xcel training facility.

Summary
The qualified candidate will be able to perform mechanical maintenance and related tasks at a reliable coal fired, gas, or steam generating station. This includes but is not limited to: disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly, and alignment of all types of industrial turbines, boilers, generators, compressors, multi stage pumps, coal preparation and conveying equipment, motors, pollution control equipment, heavy industrial rotating equipment, piping, vehicles, operating forklifts and snow removal equipment, and other associated facility equipment. There will be frequent use of precision analog hand measuring tools and performing analog and laser alignment tasks and other technical support on all rotating and mechanical systems.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have completed a Millwright Apprentice program, or have 5+ years in heavy industrial mechanical maintenance, or documented related mechanical training.
  • Must be able to wear negative air respirator or PAPR and lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in hot or cold environments, work in dusty, noisy, low light environments, perform tasks that involve standing, bending, twisting and lifting for 10 - 16 hour periods and perform other physical tasks associated with mechanical maintenance duties at a reliable coal fired, gas, or steam generating station.
  • Must be comfortable working from ladders, at high elevations, or in confined spaces.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to travel between sites.
