Job description

About Independence Mazda
Under exciting new management, Independence Mazda is on a mission to become one of the top Mazda dealerships in the entire nation for Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Located in the best, highest-traffic automotive market in Charlotte, we are building a high-velocity, forward-thinking team. If you are an innovative leader with a passion for inventory management, asset optimization, and digital merchandising, we want to hear from you.

Position Overview
We are seeking an aggressive, forward-thinking Pre-Owned Acquisition & Portfolio Manager with a velocity mindset. In this role, you will be the chief architect of our pre-owned inventory, responsible for sourcing, reconditioning, and merchandising vehicles to maximize turn rate and profitability.
Since 90% of our pre-owned inventory will be CPO Mazda products, your main objective will be finding, fixing, and front-lining high-quality inventory at a rapid pace.
Key Responsibilities
  • Multi-Channel Sourcing: Actively acquire quality inventory through digital and physical auctions, our high-volume service drive (equity mining), and directly from consumers.
  • Rapid Reconditioning: Oversee the entire reconditioning process, partnering closely with the service department to minimize Days-to-Line while ensuring vehicles meet strict Mazda CPO standards.
  • Logistics & Transportation: Manage vehicle transportation efficiently from various purchase locations back to the dealership to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Digital Merchandising: Own the online presence of our pre-owned inventory. Ensure immediate, high-quality photography, compelling descriptions, and competitive, market-driven pricing.
  • Velocity-Based Pricing: Utilize inventory management software to monitor market trends, adjust pricing dynamically, and maintain a highly profitable, fast-turning inventory.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven success specifically as an Automotive Acquisition Manager, Used Car Manager, or Pre-Owned Director.
  • Mindset: A forward-thinking, tech-savvy professional who thrives on a velocity-based inventory model (high turn, high volume).
  • Brand Knowledge: Mazda experience is a major plus, but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, deep knowledge of automotive auction platforms, and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Execution: A track record of reducing reconditioning bottlenecks and optimizing online vehicle listings for maximum digital engagement.

What We Offer
  • Highly competitive compensation package (Base salary + performance-based bonuses tied to volume and turn rate).
  • The backing of an ambitious, supportive new management team focused on growth and national recognition.
  • A premier location in Charlotte with immense market potential.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
