C.A. Hull is proud to be a union-based heavy highway contractor employing a variety of skilled trades. Skilled, career-oriented tradesperson are encouraged to apply.

No experience? No problem! You may be placed into an apprenticeship program that allows you to learn while you work and get paid.

While our main office is located in Commerce Township, MI, our jobs can be found all over the state of Michigan - including metro Detroit, Lansing, and Battle Creek.

Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background checks are required.

Carpenter duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Constructing built-in-place or pre-fabricated wooden and/or metal forms for forming concrete structures such as: footings, columns, caps, abutments, bridge decks, box culverts, etc.
  • Forming and setting barrier walls and new retaining walls, sometimes as high as 30'
  • Constructing walkways and false decking
  • Installing form liners & texture on forms
  • Installing expansion joints to grade on bridge decks
  • Setting concrete beams
  • Welding metal deck
  • Driving sheeting and piles
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions; including but not limited to, snow, rain and varying temperatures
  • Working at heights with the use of mobile equipment and ladders
  • Frequently required to stand, use hands to hold hand and power tools, finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear. Occasionally, the work requires the employee to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Works safely near and around highway traffic and noisy operations
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs
