Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology.

Come be a part of what's next. Streaming Discovery Experiences (SDX) pairs immersive discovery experiences with industry-leading playback across every device our members use - phones, tablets, TVs, game consoles, and the web. SDX spans client UI, experimentation, and playback across all four Netflix client platforms (iOS, Android, TV, and Web), and covers teams working on discovery surfaces, live event delivery, player architecture, and the shared client foundations that let hundreds of engineers ship products quickly and reliably.

We're hiring Android Software Engineers (L4) across multiple teams within Streaming & Discovery Experiences. These roles focus on building foundational infrastructure, advancing app architecture, and delivering innovative product experiences that power the Netflix Android app for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. If you're passionate about building elegant, maintainable, and high-impact software that empowers fellow engineers and touches millions of users, we'd love to talk.

Teams Hiring: Member Experience Client Foundations Team The Member Experience Client Foundations team builds the server-driven UI (SDUI) architecture and tooling that powers the member experience across Netflix's iOS, Android, and TV apps. We build the schema, rendering, and data-access layers that let product engineers ship flexible, interactive features across Discovery, Playback, and Ads while championing consistency and performance across every client platform. Ads Team This team is responsible for delivering and evolving the platform for innovative, customizable ad experiences.

They build frameworks for interactive formats and server-side ad insertion with seamless, targeted delivery. You'll work with cross-functional partners to ensure ads are integrated in a performant and engaging way for our members. The Role: We're looking for an Android engineer who's comfortable owning a project end to end - scoping it, building it, shipping it - while leaning on a strong team to sharpen their judgment along the way.

You'll work with a modern Android stack (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Dagger/Hilt, GraphQL) and get exposure to problems that only show up at Netflix's scale: hundreds of millions of members, thousands of device types, and some of the largest live audiences on the internet. What You'll Do: Design, build, and ship Android features and infrastructure that members interact with directly, or that other Netflix engineers build on top of Write clean, testable, well-documented code, backed by automated tests (JVM unit, Espresso, and similar) Partner with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to scope work and weigh trade-offs Keep a pulse on modern Android tooling and practices, and help modernize the codebase you work in Use GenAI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow, and stay curious about how agentic workflows can speed up development Communicate proactively with your team and stakeholders - solid project management and estimation instincts go a long way here What Sets You Apart: Solid understanding of Android development, with the ability to pick up new frameworks and paradigms quickly Strong coding skills in Kotlin (Java a plus), and comfort navigating adjacent stacks like GraphQL A track record of shipping real features - not just writing code that compiles You know there's rarely one "right" answer - you weigh trade-offs and make calls with incomplete information You build relationships across teams through clear communication and genuine curiosity about other people's problems You want to grow, and you want to help the people around you grow too Nice to Have: Experience with Jetpack Compose, Circuit, Dagger/Hilt, or GraphQL Experience building or maintaining SDKs, developer tooling, or shared client frameworks Familiarity with high-scale or real-time systems (live streaming, ads, playback) Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.

To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $250,000.00 - $413,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.

Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more details about our Benefits here. Netflix is a unique culture and environment.
