Mail Clerk - Decatur, IL
This is an non-exempt level position.
$15.00 per hour
Position Summary: This Mail Clerk position is assigned primary responsibility of sorting incoming and outgoing mail each day.  This position also delivers mail to the appropriate departments and/or sort mail to the prospective outside locations in addition to assisting with expresses and tracking packages as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to pick-up and deliver incoming and outgoing mail multiple times a day
  • Must be able to sort mail to appropriate departments or locations
  • Must be able to assist with expresses and tracking packages as needed
  • If Required must be able to train future mail clerks
  • May be required to provide coverage as needed in other areas of mail center, including but not limited to answering phones and taking messenger requests
  • May be required to assist in processing express invoices
  • Will be required to participate in the performance management process/creating goals for you to complete yearly
Required Skills:
  • Must possess basic computer skills including, Excel, Word and Email
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of honesty and integrity
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of timeliness with respect to presence at work, assignments and meetings as well as with respect to the on-time completion of assigned projects
  • Must demonstrate a clear commitment to safety
  • Must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
Education Requirements:
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency
Desired Experience:
  • General knowledge of postal procedures, regulations and equipment
  • Must be able to learn, comprehend and apply ADM programs 
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing
