Job description

INVENTORY MANAGER

BIRMINGHAM, MI

FULL TIME (M-F, 40 HOURS/WEEK)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory & POS Manager to oversee the back-office operations for our two gas station and convenience store locations. This role does not involve running a cash register or managing floor staff. Instead, you will focus entirely on the backend data, price book accuracy, vendor invoices, and inventory control to ensure maximum profitability and smooth store operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • POS Backend Management: Maintain the price book, update fuel prices, and program all scan codes, promotions, and discounts across both locations.
  • Inventory Control: Track stock levels, audit shrink, conduct regular cycle counts, and reconcile physical inventory against POS data.
  • Vendor & Invoice Management: Receive, verify, and input vendor invoices into the system to maintain accurate cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Margin Optimization: Monitor profit margins, analyze sales trends, and adjust retail pricing based on cost fluctuations.
  • Reporting: Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, inventory valuation, fuel margins, and high-shrink items for ownership.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of inventory management or back-office experience, specifically within gas stations or convenience stores.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with major c-store POS backend systems (e.g., PDI, Passport, Verifone, Commander, or similar platform price books).
  • Data Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets, invoices, and numbers.
  • Traits: Exceptionally organized, analytical, and capable of working independently without direct supervision.
