Job description

The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the dry cleaning drop store, ensuring excellent customer service, accurate garment intake and tracking, proper cash handling, and smooth coordination with the cleaning plant. This role helps supervise staff, resolve customer issues, and maintain operational, quality, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

  • Support day-to-day operations of the dry cleaning drop store

  • Open and close store according to schedule and procedures

  • Ensure accurate garment check-in, tagging, and order entry in POS system

  • Verify outgoing orders for accuracy and completeness before customer pickup

  • Coordinate garment transfers to and from cleaning plant

  • Maintain organized garment racks and storage areas

  • Monitor workflow and turnaround times

Customer Service

  • Provide professional, courteous customer service at all times

  • Greet customers and assist with garment intake and pickup

  • Explain services, pricing, stain limitations, and turnaround times

  • Handle customer concerns, complaints, and special requests

  • Resolve service issues or escalate to Store Manager when needed

  • Build repeat business through positive customer relationships

Staff Support & Supervision

  • Assist with training new employees on POS, tagging, and intake procedures

  • Help manage staff schedules and shift coverage

  • Provide on-the-job coaching and performance feedback

  • Ensure staff follow customer service and garment handling standards

  • Step in for counter staff when volume is high or coverage is limited

Cash & POS Management

  • Operate and oversee POS transactions

Quality Control

Inventory & Supplies

  • Monitor store supplies (tags, bags, receipts, packaging materials)
