Job description

Pay Range: $53,000 - $67,000 annually

Location: Norwood, MA / In-Office / Accessible from major highways

Schedule: This role follows a primarily daytime schedule, with 1-2 days per week requiring extended hours (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.).

Remaining days are scheduled between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The Human Resources Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the HR team with the coordination of all aspects of the human resources functions, including benefits administration, dissemination, and interpretation of policies & procedures, being the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, and assisting with employee engagement, development, and retention efforts. This position requires a fluent Portuguese speaker to effectively communicate with many employees in our production facility. Additionally, the HR Coordinator will work closely with the HR team and senior leadership on a variety of projects and may get involved in employee relations and other HR work as part of their development. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with employees and internal partners to provide support and respond to inquiries.
  • Process new hires and terminations.
  • Administer health and welfare plans including enrollments, terminations, change reporting, and claims resolution. Administer FMLA and other leaves of absence.
  • Prepare and maintain employee records in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Process changes through payroll to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions, and help administer the attendance policy.
  • Oversee the performance evaluation program.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assist with in-house HR audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support employee relations, recruitment, and retention efforts as needed.
  • Work with the HR team to brainstorm and identify solutions to ensure Home Market Food's continued strength as a fantastic environment in which to work.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team, including data entry, filing, scheduling meetings, preparing new hire paperwork, ordering office supplies, and coordinating FedEx shipments.
  • Create and maintain HR reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards to support workforce metrics, analytics, and reporting needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee focus groups to gather feedback and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver HR-related training programs and presentations for employees in both English and Portuguese.
  • Assist with other duties and unique events as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Human Resources or a related field is required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Working experience in Human Resources preferred
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese is required; basic conversational Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong MS Office skills are required.
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.

  • The noise level in the office environment is typically moderate.
