Position Summary:

Cerity Partners OCIO is seeking an Associate to join our Portfolio Management team. This role will support the OCIO Portfolio Management team across its core functions - portfolio monitoring, rebalancing, and trade execution - ensuring client portfolios remain aligned with the firm's investment outlook and each client's specific objectives and constraints. The Associate will also play an active role in maintaining and enhancing internally developed portfolio management tools and data processes.

This is a hybrid position in the firm's Denver or New York City locations with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week; the remaining two days may be worked remotely.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor client portfolios-including manager allocations, direct investments, and look-through risk exposures-to ensure portfolios consistently reflect the firm's investment views.
  • Manage the monthly asset class rebalancing process; implement trades to reposition client portfolios.
  • Execute trades, including ETFs, futures, and options, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of portfolio management decisions; liaise with the firm's executing brokers as needed.
  • Monitor portfolio liquidity and cash balances; coordinate portfolio actions related to capital calls and other liquidity needs.
  • Maintain and enhance internally developed portfolio management tools and data processes, including ongoing initiatives to streamline the integration of data across custodial platforms, market data providers, and internally maintained portfolio models.
  • Utilize third-party portfolio management software and internal Excel/Power Query-based tools.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance; conduct performance attribution and address performance dispersion across portfolios.
  • Evaluate and implement optimal approaches for integrating new investments into portfolios.
  • Build and implement portfolio transition plans for onboarding new clients.
  • Perform ad hoc investment analysis as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in financial services; experience in asset management, investment consulting, or trading preferred. Relevant internship experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progress toward, or attainment of, a CFA designation strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong grasp of capital markets, investment theory, and portfolio construction principles.
  • Familiarity with custodial platforms and investment accounting processes.
  • Understanding of trading workflows, systems, and counterparties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills; experience with Bloomberg and portfolio management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who proactively seeks out additional responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solver with a collaborative and positive attitude.
  • Genuine interest in capital markets and portfolio management, with a desire to build a long-term career in the field.
