Team Overview:
Our Portfolio Compliance Group (PCG) is accountable for implementing controls & processes to ensure we stay in line with all applicable regulatory and portfolio issued guidelines.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about all internal business departments and investment products across BlackRock globally. You can expect to acquire knowledge of global regulatory regimes and jurisdictions as well as an opportunity to grow, develop skills and build a strong network within the team and across the firm.
Primary responsibilities include:
The role is part of our Implementations team within PCG. You will be primarily responsible for interpreting and analyzing the investment guidelines of our clients and coding them into compliance system for BlackRock's internal and external clients. Our primary compliance system is Aladdin, where we code the guidelines using BlackRock's proprietary coding language, which is similar to SQL. Key responsibilities include:
  • Aladdin Business implementation - Lead compliance channel for the process of compliance guideline coding for external client Aladdin system implementations.
  • Partner with the Global Implementations lead and Change Manager to develop and execute our regional strategy.
  • New account coding - provide oversight and support the process as well, which requires interpreting the client's investment guidelines from the executed Investment Management Agreement (IMA) and implementing the required controls through use of compliance rules in BlackRock's Aladdin platform.
  • Guideline changes - provide oversight and support the process through which a client may change their investment guideline provisions over time, based on their preferences or market conditions. The coding (i.e., controls) may need to be updated in Aladdin to reflect the client's updated requirements.
  • Crafting new compliance rules, improving existing compliance coding, and investigating / troubleshooting potential errors when needed.

Through your training and performance of the role, you will also have exposure to the following:
  • Participating in efficiency and improvement initiatives by providing ideas and suggestions on possible improvements to systems or processes.
  • Leading or running strategic projects and initiatives.

To be successful, candidates will have to demonstrate the following skills:
  • Strong Aladdin Knowledge, including Aladdin applications, trade flow process and data environment to review business processes of Aladdin Business Clients.
  • Strong knowledge of Aladdin Compliance tools, including Monitoring tools (Dashboard, Compliance Research Hub, Compliance Workbench).
  • Ability to code compliance rules in Aladdin.

Other key technology skills we look for include:
  • Strong technical knowledge will be a significant advantage. Specifically, knowledge of programming languages (such as Visual Basic, C++, Java, or Python) and an understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL).
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge.

For Wilmington, DE Only the salary range for this position is USD$82,000.00 - USD$108,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
