Polymer Engineers at Seemann Composites have the latitude to work in resource focused groups and product teams. Our Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), typically include Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Logistics, and Production.
Seemann Composites has an opening for a Polymer Engineer II at our facility in Gulfport, MS. The work will include interfacing with other engineers, and IPT members toward accomplishing the project objectives.
Typical duties of a Polymer Engineer II include polymer process development, polymer tooling development, development of manufacturing instructions and manufacturing support. The primary CAD tool is SolidWorks for both modeling and drawing development; experience with this software tool is certainly a plus.

Job Requirements:
  • Typically has 3 to 6 years of experience performing similar duties
  • Bachelor of Science in Polymer, Composites, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Chemical, Aerospace, or other related engineering degree, such as Naval Architecture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • United States Citizenship or Green Card Status is required.
  • Assigned several program duties simultaneously across disciplines
  • Typically reports to Engineer IV or Engineering Manager
  • May be a Product Owner of a project
  • Author manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, white papers, monthly reports, etc. with oversight from supervisor
  • Develop polymer processes with oversight from supervisor
  • Provide input as needed on proposals, schedules, budgets and other programmatic deliverables
  • Working knowledge of polymer manufacturing processes
  • Generate and maintain processor configuration
  • Development and oversight of processor preventative maintenance plans
  • Working knowledge and participate in entire production process: drawing reviews, requirements matrixes, tool design, drafting, procurement, work instructions, machining, inspections, objective quality evidence
  • Limited Interfaces with customers and subcontractors
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance

Essential Physical Requirement:
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required but it is not usual.
