Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Cosmetic Chemist / Product Development Specialist to support formulation development, product optimization, pilot batch manufacturing, and production scale-up activities across multiple cosmetic and personal care categories.

This role requires a practical, detail-oriented, and organized individual who is comfortable working in product development and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate should have experience with cosmetic formulations, manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and product development within a fast-paced setting.

The position will work closely with production, quality, and management teams to support both internal product lines and private label customer projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and improve skincare, haircare, cosmetic, and personal care formulations

Create custom formulations for private label and contract manufacturing clients

Prepare formulation samples and pilot batches for evaluation and production

Support formulation scale-up from product development to commercial manufacturing

Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing issues during production

Coordinate outsourced stability and product performance testing when required

Maintain formulation documentation and batch records

Work closely with production and quality teams to support manufacturing operations

Ensure product development activities comply with FDA cosmetic regulations and cGMP standards

Research new ingredients, formulation technologies, and industry trends

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field

Minimum 3 years of experience in cosmetic, skincare, haircare, or personal care product formulation highly preferred

Strong understanding of emulsions, surfactants, preservatives, oils, botanical ingredients, and formulation stability principles

Familiarity with formulation development procedures and pilot batch preparation

Knowledge of manufacturing scale-up and batch troubleshooting preferred

Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environments and cosmetic regulatory standards

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Work Environment
