Overview

The Political Law Group LLP is a California-based political law practice specializing in campaign finance, lobbying compliance, election law, and government ethics. We represent candidates, elected officials, political committees, lobbyists, nonprofits, and public agencies in high-stakes regulatory and compliance matters. We are seeking a highly organized and analytically minded Compliance Analyst to support campaign finance, lobbying, and government ethics compliance for a sophisticated client base.

This role sits at the intersection of compliance, finance, and client service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with financial data, and capable of managing multiple accounts with precision and professionalism.


The position offers direct exposure to high-level political activity, including candidate committees, independent expenditure committees, nonprofit organizations, lobbyists, and public officials.


Key Responsibilities

•    Assist with preparation and review of campaign finance reports (California and federal, as applicable)

•    Manage assigned client accounts, ensuring compliance with all reporting obligations and deadlines

•    Track, reconcile, and analyze financial activity, including contributions and expenditures

•    Maintain compliance calendars and reporting schedules across multiple entities

•    Review financial records for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance

•    Prepare and maintain detailed spreadsheets and internal tracking systems

•    Coordinate with treasurers, compliance vendors, and clients to ensure accurate and timely reporting

•    Conduct research on campaign finance, lobbying, and government ethics laws

•    Assist in drafting compliance memoranda, client guidance, and internal policies

•    Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and enforcement matters


Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree required; background in finance, accounting, economics, political science, or related field preferred

•    1–3 years of relevant experience preferred; entry-level candidates with demonstrated interest and transferable skills (campaigns, compliance, accounting, finance, or government) will be considered

•    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data organization)

•    Demonstrated comfort working with financial data, spreadsheets, and reconciliation processes

•    Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy

•    Strong organizational and time management skills

•    Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

•    Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

•    High level of discretion and professionalism


Preferred Attributes

•    Experience with financial tracking, bookkeeping, or accounting principles

•    Familiarity with campaign finance reporting systems (e.g., NetFile, ISPolitical, NGP)

•    Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively

•    Interest in political law, elections, and regulatory compliance

•    Ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable steps


Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package included.
