Posting Summary
The Department of English, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking a part-time instructor (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Fall 2026 semester to teach Reading Poetry. The course meets Mondays from 2:30pm-3:50pm and Wednesdays from 1:00pm-2:20pm. Reading Poetry is an introductory, general education class on the analysis of poetry. The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to, preparing course material; creating and posting a course syllabus; presenting material during the assigned course times; holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students; responding to student e-mails; conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner; and submitting final grades.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in English, creative writing, or a closely related area preferred. Master's degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.
