Job description

The Intern, Athletic Operations for Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), assists with day-to-day athletic department duties, including events such as the MLB's Breakthrough Series, Breakthrough Series Invitational Tournament, Hank Aaron Invitational, Elite Development Invitationals, Nike RBI World Regionals, and Nike RBI World Series.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operation of the athletic department.   
  • Act as a liaison between onsite clients and JRTC staff.
  • Research and compile mailing/email blast lists of coaches, managers, athletic department personnel, etc., for distributing sales collateral materials; coordinate and execute direct mail marketing efforts. 
  • Assist sales staff with outreach and sales calls to amateur, high school, collegiate and professional athletic organizations. 
  • Assist communications staff with content and review of promotional/sales collateral materials as well as print and digital advertisements promoting events and facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Athletic Operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • The preferred candidate will have a two or four year degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year program, with at least three years completed, will also be considered if they are available for the duration of the internship.
  • The preferred candidate will have previous experience working in an athletics environment and understanding of the game of baseball.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Candidate must be a professional, self-starter who will work as a team player and also be able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and excellent driving record.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 
  • Pull tarp when necessary.

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour

The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
