Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads (an Inspire Aesthetics Group Partner) strives to provide a comfortable, compassionate, safe plastic surgery experience. With over 90+ years of plastic surgery experience, our award-winning plastic surgeons are well-known for listening to our patients and delivering beautiful results. From our pre-operative care center to our AAAASF-accredited, fully appointed surgical center, we provide our patients with a caring, positive experience from the very first appointment and throughout their care.

Job Summary:

Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads is seeking a full-time medical assistant (4-day work week) to join our growing team. The medical assistant provides back-office support for patients and other clinical team members. This position performs tasks such as taking vitals, height/weight measurements, and post-operative care. This individual will play a significant role in the communication and flow of the office. Expectation to have flexibility to work in both our Newport News AND Williamsburg practice locations.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist provider with lasers, injectables, and minor procedures
  • Assist in exam room set-up with the necessary supplies and equipment for each procedure
  • Ensure all exam room supplies and equipment is stocked daily
  • Take history and physical for consults
  • Assist with post-op follow up with surgeons (suture removal, drain removal, dressings)
  • Communicate and interpret physician's instructions to patients
  • Dispose all linen and trash in the appropriate manner
  • Empty and replace sharps containers in all rooms
  • Manage and oversee the direction and flow of patients to ensure the daily schedule runs efficiently and on time
  • Ensure patient information is updated and complete in EMR (take photos, sign consents, update medical history, etc.)
  • Operate e-fax, printer, scanner
  • Participate in office events and seminars outside regular business hours
  • Enthusiastic and optimistic personality
  • Perform related work as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy, as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure & multi-task
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Desire and ability help maintain a pleasant, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Prior experience working in a plastic surgery office or comparable medical office setting (Dermatology or Cosmetic Dentist)
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and grooming at all times

Experience:

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Ambulatory surgery center: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Required)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Required)

Work Schedule:

  • 4-Day work week 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
